IED 2008 Symposium & Expo
Timely and strategic, this event explores the realm of mitigation and defeat possiblities for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with exhibits and presentations scheduled to encourage the exchange of ideas and information between military leaders, government agencies, law enforcement personnel, researchers and industry. Addressing industry information, emerging technologies, and identifying content critical to mission requirements, leading-edge presentations by military, security and industry leaders will include information sharing and the development of technological responses, armor, and tactics to detect, counteract, and defeat the IED threat.
Demonstration Zone
Tuesday, May 13, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
The Demo Zone (DZ) will allow attendees and guests to view simulated demonstrations, emerging technology and showcase large platform capabilities. Exhibitor demonstrations are scheduled on Tuesday, May 13, during the Opening Exhibit Preview and Reception. Outdoor Range Demos are available.
Tentative schedule for Indoor demos
Ahura Scientific, Inc. 3:30 PM - 3:50 PM(20 minutes)
Firstdefender, handheld chemical ID system is a light-weight rugged instrument for instant identification of unknown solids, liquids and mixtures, including IED’s, narcotics, TICS, TIMS, Hazardous materials and more. The Firstdefender, handheld chemical ID system also has the ability to ID materials through sealed containers. MIL-STD 810F-Certified for ruggedness.
RedXDefense 4:10 – 4:30 PM (20 minutes)
RedX personnel will conduct live demonstrations of trace Detection using the XPAK portable trace explosives detection system. RedX personnel will sample trace explosives from packages, people and other surfaces and demonstrate the detection in the XPAK.
NEW outdoor demo schedule
MILSIMFX 12:35 PM – 12:55 PM (15-20 minutes) Mil-Sim -Fx will demonstrate non-pyro IED simulators in a number of different configurations, from suicide vests to land mines to claymores. This safe and effective way of training is beneficial to both “Mounted” & “Dismounted” training operations.
Southeastern Tactical Technologies 1:05 PM – 1:25 PM (15-20 minutes) Southeastern Tactical Technologies and Protective Systems will demonstrate the Bishop EMR-100, an IED stabilization and neutralization tool that is robotic-mounted. Effective on RF, timer, and PIR IED’s without causing pre-detonation or damaging the circuitry.
Explotrain, LLC 1:35 PM – 1:50 PM (5-10 minutes)
Explotrain will demonstrate safe and realistic explosive blast simulators of 110-130 dB
Conference Registration:
The full conference fee includes admission to all general sessions, exhibits, and reception and meal functions. Active duty military and government may attend the educational sessions and expo at no charge if pre-registered by March 31. The Educational Session reduced rate does not include the lunches, receptions or special functions associated with IED 2008.
Expo Registration:
The Expo is open to all qualified defense personnel, industry and government at no charge. Expo only registration is available online or onsite.

It does not include the symposium attendance. If you plan to attend the symposium, then you must register at the appropriate symposium rate.
